C2PA and G&L's role in content provenance

G&L's CEO Alexander Leschinsky recently spoke with Steve Nathans-Kelly from Streaming Media Magazine about the importance of content provenance and authenticity in today's digital landscape. In this interview, they discuss the challenges of implementing C2PA standards, especially for live content, and how G&L Systemhaus is helping broadcasters and media companies tackle these issues. You can watch the full interview here.

What is C2PA?

The Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) emerged to meet the growing need for cryptographic content authentication, addressing concerns around fake news and brand trust. Established in 2021, it offers a standardized framework to ensure content integrity, extending from device manufacturers to publishers.

G&L’s contribution

G&L integrates C2PA into custom workflows, handling compute-intensive processes like hash calculations and content signing. Their expertise enables broadcasters to add C2PA seamlessly into existing workflows, ensuring reliability and automation without reinventing infrastructure.

Challenges with live content

While C2PA supports images and on-demand video, live workflows remain a challenge due to the complexities of continuous data streams. G&L actively contributes to solving these issues within C2PA’s live workflow task force, leveraging its extensive live streaming experience.

Next steps for compliance

To adopt C2PA, publishers need certificates, establish trust lists, and integrate workflows for content types like images or VOD. G&L helps broadcasters design reliable, scalable systems for content authentication, ensuring trust at every step.
