Press release 07 September 2021
G&L Geißendörfer & Leschinsky GmbH was able to prevail over its market competitors in an extensive tendering process with the most economical offer and may now continue its successful cooperation with ARD and ZDF for many years to come. The individual condition framework agreements (KRV) include the delivery of audio signals (radio), video signals (live streaming and on-demand streaming) as well as websites via the Internet. These are put out to tender for ARD, ZDF, Deutschlandradio, Deutsche Welle and ARTE under the lead management of WDR. The new KRVs continue to focus on the high availability of all services around the clock for all end users as well as the cost effectiveness of the service.
The contract volume includes the provision of all the broadcasters' content. In this context, G&L is the guarantor that distribution via the Internet is carried out with the same reliability as via satellite, cable or terrestrial transmission. After all, the internet has gained considerably in importance as a distribution channel for public service programmes in recent years. The media libraries of the major broadcasters continue to expand their offers, relying on innovative solutions and fast-moving technical development. Together with its partners, first and foremost Akamai Technologies, G&L ensures that the content can be accessed worldwide.
Following the specifications of the broadcasters, G&L ensures the interference-free transport of the continuously growing data volumes in streaming formats up to Full HD and UHD for all terminal devices and platforms. G&L supports the introduction of new ultra-low latency formats for sports broadcasting as well as the wider colour gamut with High Dynamic Range for smart TVs, tablets, smartphones and desktop devices. In addition, G&L also speeds up the delivery of ARD and ZDF websites and APIs.
Alexander Leschinsky, Managing Director of G&L: “My team and I are looking forward to the challenge of continuing to support public broadcasting in Germany and ARTE with all our know-how and commitment over the next four years. We are doing everything we can to further optimise the playback quality for viewers and listeners and to enable the use of all media content everywhere in a safe and reliable way.”
